Meet the Counselor

Hello! My name is Leah Twedt, and I serve grades TK-4 as the Professional School Counselor. A little bit about me; I am married and have 3 children. I love spending time outside, exercising, music, cheering for the Minnesota Vikings and IA State Cyclones, and reading a good book.

I grew up and graduated from Canton, SD, and received my Bachelor's degree at Augustana College in Sioux Falls. I taught in various areas for 6 years and then obtained my Master's degree at SDSU in School Counseling in 2014. I have been employed at West Lyon ever since!

I love being able to be a part of a child's social/emotional growth and development, and seek to support the staff and students at West Lyon to make sure that happens. I am fortunate to get to know all of the elementary students through teaching my S.E.L. (Social-Emotional Learning) class weekly in each classroom, as well as supporting students with individual and small-group counseling services.
